Arizona State University is exploring the possibility of hiring Colorado Avalanche assistant coach Dave Hakstol as its next men’s hockey head coach, according to ongoing discussions between the school and the NHL organization. The move would mark a significant shift for the Sun Devils’ program, which has been searching for new leadership following the departure of its previous coach. Hakstol’s extensive experience in both collegiate and professional hockey could bring fresh expertise to the university’s ice hockey initiative. If finalized, the appointment would represent a rare crossover from the NHL coaching ranks to a major college program.
