Professional tryout contracts have been signed ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 NHL training camps, marking the league’s latest step in expanding opportunities for emerging talent. The move follows the introduction of the NHL’s new professional tryout program, designed to provide additional pathways for players seeking to join the league. Teams will now have the chance to evaluate prospects under contract before the official start of the season, offering a structured route for those who may not yet have secured a full roster spot. This development could reshape how prospects transition from junior or collegiate hockey to professional play.
