In a surprise move, former Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Åman has traded in the NHL for a return to his Swedish hockey roots. The 26-year-old center has signed a three-year contract with Djurgårdens IF, a team in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) that is close to his heart. After spending four seasons in North America, where he suited up for 132 NHL games and 123 more in the AHL, Åman is heading back to his homeland to resume his career. The move marks a significant shift for the young player, who will now be playing in front of his family and friends in Sweden.
