The Edmonton Oilers have added Misha Donskov to their coaching staff in a new role as a coaching consultant, marking the latest move in their efforts to refine their bench strategy. Donskov, a former NHL defenseman with experience in both North America and Europe, brings a wealth of tactical knowledge and a unique perspective on defensive systems. His appointment follows a season where the Oilers’ defensive play has drawn scrutiny, raising questions about their ability to sustain pressure in critical moments. With his deep understanding of modern defensive structures, Donskov’s input could play a key role in shaping future line combinations and defensive zone approaches.
