A special initiative by the NHL is honoring military service members and veterans through a unique program called "Paws of War." The league is collecting plush toys in the likeness of its teams' mascots to send to deployed troops, offering a touch of home and team spirit during their service. Fans are encouraged to donate these plush items, which will be distributed to service members overseas. The effort aims to bring comfort and a sense of connection to those who have sacrificed for their country.
