The New York Islanders organization, along with staff, alumni, and the families of players—including Mathieu and Stephanie Darche—joined forces with the YMCA of Bellerose to construct a new playground for the community. The volunteer effort, which saw players’ wives and girlfriends pitch in, aimed to provide a safe, welcoming space for local children and families. The project reflects the team’s commitment to community outreach and youth development, while strengthening ties between the franchise and the borough of Queens. The finished playground will feature modern equipment and inclusive design, offering a vibrant destination for families in the area.
