A former professional hockey player is welcoming a close friend and former teammate into his home after the friend’s family faced an unexpected tragedy. The two had previously shared living arrangements while playing together in a junior league, and the host has a history of supporting the friend’s involvement in community hockey programs. The gesture reflects a long-standing bond between the individuals, rooted in both sports and shared experiences. Details on how the family is being supported during this difficult time remain limited.

Hodgson and his family billeted good friend Jakob Stukel when they played together for Calgary of the Western Hockey League. Malenstyn was a regular visitor and took part in some HEROS Hockey events.
