The Colorado Avalanche have appointed Thomas — likely referring to captaincy change after the trade of Ryan Schenn — as the new team leader. The move signals a shift in the franchise’s leadership structure as the club seeks to build on its recent playoff run. With Thomas stepping into the role, the Avalanche aim to reinforce locker‑room cohesion and maintain momentum heading into the next season. The decision follows a period of roster adjustments and reflects the organization’s confidence in Thomas’s experience and leadership abilities.
